Over the past month I’ve been using Google voice and other Wifi based VOIP apps as my primary personal phone service due to a disinterest in paying Verizon >$100 a month over a 2 year contract for a piddling number of calls and text messages. Now, it appears that a few companies including Republic Wireless and Ting who operate as MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) are bringing this concept to the masses and may soon be adding more phones including the iPhone
