Man, I really want to like Think electric cars. They have some great ideas. Unfortunately given our gas guzzling ways, they can’t seem to stop going bankrupt.

Given that electric cars seem to be taking forever to develop and still cost a mint, I thought I’d take a gander at the field of electric bikes. Since my commute is roughly 20 miles, I rarely need to carry more than a lightweight Mac laptop, and crave sunlight and moderate exercise, these seemed to make sense. Fortunately this field is positively ripe with options, most of which are under 1k, from conversion kits to full bikes which take you around 20mph for 20 miles, or more if you give the occasional jab of the pedals. And for a truly luxurious ride, check out the recumbents, which are also drastically more wind efficient.
